mankind by nature
is egregiously flawed
let profoundly vain
the hardships of life
could not tarnish hope or heart
nobel was her plight
torn between desire
and responsibility
what’s a guy to do
the guardian stands
ever watchful, without sleep
guarding his keep
woe to the poor souls
living mediocrity
naught will they amount
her credulity
was only exceeded by
her naivety
once it is attained
possessing what we covet
comes with its own cost
Many traits swimming
In the gene pool of my life
Some deep; some shallow
like scars of battle
our experiences show
a map to our past
the old man weeping
while ever closer creeping
death came a reaping
Though he may not know
He taught me by his actions
Mentored without show
blue tendrils streaking
across dark and angry skies
CRASH, POP, SIZZLE, CRACK
Most call them wrinkles
I fancy time an artist
Etching lines of life
giving goose bumps rise
like a cold wind on damp days
memories of you
jealous is the love
whose desire is neglected
for an other’s want
you thrust; I parry
the deadly dance of dueling
in which nobody wins
old age marches on
the feet of time stomping by
with naught to stop it
no light at the end
just dark endless catacombs
I seek to escape
flawless, I am not.
many fractures; big and small;
surface and below
alone with my thoughts
turning them this way and that
looking for meaning
